Background Information
Located in the financial, shopping and entertainment hub of Bangkok, Beth Elisheva is the city's oldest extant synagogue. Overseen by the Jewish Association of Thailand, it functions as the spiritual and social nucleus of Bangkok's Jewish community of businessmen, financial advisors and expatriate entrepreneurs making the Thai capital their home.
High holidays draw hundreds of worshippers. In addition, weekly Shabbat dinners at the residence of Rabbi Yosef Kantor have become popular venues for city residents to meet up in a friendly and welcoming environment. Holidaymakers and Jewish professionals on business in the city also often drop by.
Yosef and Nechama Kantor cordially welcome Jewish visitors to their home for Shabbat dinners, while lunches are served in the synagogue's social hall.
Shabbat dinners are preceded by a prayer service in the adjacent synagogue and follow the traditional candle lighting ceremony. Please be advised that an RSVP requirement generally applies for most Shabbat dinners. The Shabbat morning service begins at 10a.m. and is followed by lunch.
Friday night service at candle lighting time followed by Shabbat meal.
