Out of the Flood, a Burning Flame

On December 26th, 2004, a Tsunami ravaged the tranquil island of Phuket, Thailand—one of the worst recorded natural disasters in history. Within hours, Chabad of Phuket was born with a singular mission to save lives and administer critically needed aid.

As the relief activities wound down, Chabad of Phuket remained to serve the large flow of Jewish tourists to the island. In the decade since its founding, Chabad’s activities have grown steadily and incredibly.

10,400 Shabbat meals were served last year in Phuket. 27,000 meals at the kosher restaurant.

The new building includes a mikva, shul, restaurant, social hall, shluchim residence, bochurim accomodations, a rooftop chupa area. It will be please G-d a very user friendly facility handling more than five hundred people a day in our conservative estimate.

The Chabad House of Phuket is one of a kind. With hundreds of people passing through its doors daily and for weekly Friday night dinner, it is a "gold mine" in terms of Jewish unity and mitzvas.

Most of the Israeli men and women we serve gave their best years to protect our people in Israel as soldiers in TZAHAL. It is our turn to give back to them.

In April 2008 Chabad of Thailand purchased land in Phuket.
In August 2015 we broke ground for a new building.

As of July 2017 the seven stories are up. The external structure that is. The 26,000 sq feet purpose built building will be a tremendous Kidush Hashem IYH

It will be a building that will be perfect both for the backpackers and also for the higher end tourists and will generate a warm feeling of camaraderie between all its visitors.
